Toyota President says “autonomous vehicles are not yet realistic for normal roads”
The president of Toyota restarted the driverless shuttle at the Paralympic events but only after disabling the autonomous systems ability to accelerate or brake. And he stated that these systems are nowhere near ready for public roads. Keeping in mind that he was using a poor performing slow speed event shuttle to make that point. (And again, the press doesn’t include AEB failure in the article.)
How much does it matter a disabled person was hit? Probably nothing given at least 10 people have been killed by these systems needlessly. One being a teenager. Will the first death of child or family matter? Or are we getting to desensitized.
