NHTSA bought a Tesla with “Autopilot” and “Full Self Driving” over 8 MONTHS AGO and didn’t get Tesla’s permission to use it until Elon granted it today on Twitter. This despite NHTSA sending an email to Tesla IN JANUARY asking for the system to be turned on.
Over 8 months and having to ask for it to be turned on with a Safety score of 99
How inept, feckless, neutered, owned or unethical can you be?
ok we’ll turn it on

“With over 700 miles of driving this year and a Safety Score of 99 (including a score of 100 for the most recent 107 miles on Jan 21), we have not received the OTA update to fully enable FSD in our vehicle.
“We request some of your time and expertise to assess our situation and help us understand what additional steps we need to take.”
More on my POV here. Including how to do this right.
The same folks who now rail against Tesla thought they were a shining star and don’t know or care they are only the worst of the bunch

Tesla “autopilot” development effort needs to be stopped and people held accountable
Tesla upgrading cameras and putting radar back? I thought the system was enough to get to L4? This is admitting incompetence and negligence, especially to NHTSA
